Campbell River man wanted in connection to Grande Prairie homicide

A 30-year-old man from Campbell River, B.C. is wanted in connection to a recent homicide in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Grande Prairie RCMP are asking for the public's help in finding Tommy Vernon Paul. It's alleged he was one of three people involved in the murder of Adrian Jordan Snider.

The remains of a body believed to be Snider's was found outside Grande Prairie on May 4, nearly two months since his last sighting.

Patrick Deceque, 29, and his brother Dominic, 27, were arrested last weekend and charged with murder in connection with the homicide investigation.

Cpl. Roy Kennedy says it's believed Paul was a friend or associate of the brothers, and they aren't sure of his exact location.

Paul is 5-foot-6, 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has two previous convictions for assault.

If you see Paul, you're asked not to approach him, and to contact your local police, Grande Prairie RCMP, or Crime Stoppers.

Fostering Diverse Communities Conference | April 30th - May 1st

In just a few weeks, Grande Prairie will be hosting the annual Fostering Diverse Communities Conference right at our own Stonebridge Hotel!

The conference is an important event as it focuses on methods Alberta cities can implement to make their communities more inclusive. The event will attract representatives from Alberta municipalities, businesses and non-profit organizations.

The conference was first put in motion when Tymmarah Zehr, former committee member of Welcoming and Inclusive Communities (WIC) teamed up with The City's Community Social Development and offered to host the momentous event.

Zehr says she has "worked closely with the City and the WIC Committee to create an agenda that is responsive to local issues and interests."

The keynote speaker of the event will be Zarqa Nawaz creator of the popular show Little Mosque on the Prairie. There will also be a presentation by the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association who will be speaking about their ideas on how to further incorporate ethno-cultural communities.

Other highlights include a performance by Ahmed Knowmadic a Somali-Canadian award winning poet and a multicultural gala of cultural performances held on May 1st.

Not only will there be informative presentations, there will also be opportunities for participants to get involved through break out sessions focusing on Aboriginal cultural practices, foreign workers issues, culture shock, community plans, and engaging with people who have experience of being a newcomer to communities.

You can still buy tickets to the event via Eventbrite until April 24th. Students will be offered a discount so don't forget to bring your student ID if that applies to you!

Stonebridge Hotel is excited to be hosting this exciting event and is looking forward to seeing all attendees on April 30th! If you have yet to book a place to stay, why not book with us? Contact us now for the best rates guaranteed.
